John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”
It’s Catholic Schools Week! Did you misplace your activity sheet? Here it is again:
Monday: Spirit Day and Intercom Bingo
Tuesday: Drop Everything and Read; Slipper/Crazy Sock Day
Wednesday: Intercom Bingo
Thursday: Core Knowledge Science Night starting at 6PM in the Cafeteria
Friday: Hat Day; Faculty challenges the 8th graders in Volleyball
A New Family Tour is TOMORROW! Ask your family members and friends with children in grades K-8 to come visit our school. We are finishing up the official pre-registration season this week. The New Family Tour starts at 8AM so families can see us in action. It is a great opportunity for new families to learn about our school.
Returning Families, if you haven’t returned your blue pre-registration form to the school, please do so this week. We need to know how many children to plan on for next school year. If your family is NOT returning, please send in the blue form anyway and write on the bottom that your child is not returning. That would be a great help to us. Thank you.
Recently in the news, there has been information about the new healthy guidelines for school breakfasts and lunches. The government is calling for more fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. It is as if they are looking right at our Done Right Food school menu. Done Right Food is the meal provider for Ascension Catholic School and it supplies our children with fresh produce daily and fresh proteins. We have whole grains for breakfast and lunch and low fat dairy products. We intentionally choose to have our students eating the best and freshest foods because we know that what they eat greatly impacts how well they learn. Take a look at the February menu and notice the food contents listed. You will see that Ascension Catholic School is way ahead of the new guidelines for schools.
Don’t miss the Thursday Core Knowledge Science Night! Students’ science work will be displayed. The Junior High students are going to have their Science Projects judged by administrators and science teachers from the greater Minneapolis Community. Come see what good work our students do and learn some science facts. Parent Work Hours will be available for those parents that attend with their children! It is a great opportunity to get together!
Looking ahead, we have a Presidents’ Day holiday on February 20th where the school will be closed. Ash Wednesday is on Wednesday February 22nd this year – the beginning of the season of Lent where we prepare ourselves spiritually to celebrate Easter. Mass will be at 10AM on this day and the 2nd graders will lead the service with the reading of the scriptures, cantoring, and various other tasks that help us to have a beautiful worship service. Please come.
